SHRC's Pursuit of Justice for Priya Kumari Continues!

The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) underscores its unwavering commitment to justice in the case of Priya Kumari, the missing 7-year-old, since 2021, SHRC has diligently monitored the investigation's progress and convened a crucial meeting at SHRC Regional Office Sukkur, Chaired by Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of SHRC, the meeting brought together key stakeholders, including law enforcement authorities and representatives from the local Hindu Panchayat.

Inspector Javed Memon provided a comprehensive report on the investigation's progress and challenges. Mr. Raj Kumar, Priya Kumari's father, raised concerns about unreturned mobile phones, complicating the case. SSP Sukkur, Mr. Abid Baloch, directed immediate action to unlock the phones and conduct thorough data analysis, with geofencing to gain further insights.

Mr. Detho addressed misinformation on social media, stressing the importance of accurate updates and urging swift action against false information spreaders. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Sindh home department has constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the failure to recover Priya Kumari since her disappearance.

The next hearing will summon the previous Investigating Officer and the SHO of the relevant police station. Notices have been issued, and SHRC will seek essential documents.

SHRC calls upon the public to provide any relevant information to assist in the investigation. As the pursuit of truth and justice continues, SHRC remains steadfast in advocating for minority rights and upholding the principles of equality and fairness for all members of society.
