Training on The Sindh Hindu Marriage Act 2018 - Shaheed Benazir Abad

The Sindh Human Rights Commission, Government of Sindh organized a Training of Government Officials, Civil Society, and Religious Leaders (Pandits) on “Sindh Hindu Marriage Act, 2018” on 17th June 2022 @ New Sukoon Restaurant, Shaheed Benazir Abad.  

The Commission held a series of workshops on the said topic with Government officials, Civil Society, and media personnel in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas where the majority of the participants were of the view that the non-implementation of the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act, 2018 is a violation of Article 25 (Fundamental Rights) and Article 35 (Principles of Policy) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as such there is a need to create awareness on Hindu Personal Laws.

In view of the above, the Commission conducted an orientation workshop in Shaheed Benazir Abad on 17th June, 2022.

Mr. Krishan Sharma, Member Human Rights committee SHRC gave the Brief History, Background, Struggle, and Process of Enactment of Sindh Hindu Marriage Act.

Advocate M. Prakash, Member Minority Committee shared the Salient Features of Sindh Hindu Marriage Act 2018.

The floor was opened for the discussion on the Issues/Challenges Faced by the Local Government Department in the implementation of the Act and Issues pertaining to the Registration of Pandits/Marriage.

Ms. Pushpa Kumari, Member SHRC gave the closing Remarks and at the end of the training, certificates were distributed among all the participants.
