The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) recently wrapped up an intensive one-week Human Rights training for Civil Judges and Judicial Magistrates at the Sindh Judicial Academy. This comprehensive session, held from July 17th to 22nd July 2023, aimed to equip the newly appointed judges with enhanced knowledge and skills, contributing to a fair and just legal system for the people of Sindh. The enthusiastic participation of 45 trainees, including 7 remarkable female candidates and 38 dedicated male candidates, highlighted the importance of the initiative.

Throughout the training, esteemed speakers shed light on critical topics. Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of SHRC, covered Human Rights, Fundamental rights enshrined in Pakistan's constitution, and vital acts protecting children's rights, abolishing bonded labor, and preventing trafficking.

Barrister Rida Tahir's insightful presentations focused on gender rights, the National Gender Policy Framework, and the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010.

Mr. M. Shahid Shafiq, District & Sessions Judge/Senior Faculty Member, shared valuable insights into the roles of Justice Sector Stakeholders and the Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018.

Other esteemed presenters included Mr. Jameel Junejo from the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh explaining International Human Rights Mechanisms, and Dr. Arif Rajput, who discussed the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.

The training also featured Barrister Ali Tahir on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Rules, 2018, and Mr. Syed Kausar Abbas, Executive Director @SSDOPakistan providing an informative overview of Trafficking in Persons in Pakistan.

Ms. Sadaf Asif, District & Session Judge (Mirpurkhas), emphasized the importance of combating sexual violence under the "Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021."

Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of SHRC, delivered an inspiring keynote speech, emphasizing the significance of knowledge in building a safer and more equitable society.

The training's successful conclusion witnessed the distribution of appreciation shields and certificates to all participants, reaffirming SHRC's unwavering commitment to empowering judicial professionals, promoting human rights literacy, and fostering a just society in Sindh.
