On Aug 8, 2023, the Provincial Steering Committee meeting for Legal Aid and Assistance took place at the SHRC office. Headed by Mr. Jawed Sibghatullah Mahar, Secretary Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh and co-chaired by Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of Sindh Human Rights Commission. The agenda covered diverse topics, including efficient fund allocation and utilization for equitable legal aid to underprivileged individuals.
Esteemed representatives from Women Development Department Sindh, Sindh Commission on the Status of Women, Social Welfare Department of Sindh,
Minority Affairs Department, Legal Aid Society and Pakistan Legal United Society actively participated. Additionally, Mr. Detho shared a comprehensive legal aid mechanism mapping for Sindh.
