The SHRC collaborated with NLD to organize a workshop on the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act 2018 in Shaheed Benazirabad.

The Sindh Human Rights Commission, with the support of National Lobbying Delegation, orchestrated a workshop that delved into the crucial Sindh Hindu Marriage Act 2018. This event gathered a diverse audience, including local government officials, esteemed civil society members, and Hindu religious leaders, at the HM Khawaja Auditorium Hall in Shaheed Benazirabad.

Esteemed members of the Sindh Human Rights Commission and NLD, such as Krishan Sharma, Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani, Adnan Ali, Mr. Haroon Sarab Dayal and others underscored the government's commitment to upholding the rights and well-being of minority communities within the province.

Central to the discussion was the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act 2018 a legal framework of immense significance that shapes the marriage landscape within the region. With provisions granting Hindu men and women above 18 the right to formally register their unions, divorces, and subsequent marriages, the Act stands as a testament to gender equality and empowerment. It also addresses the economic rights of wives and children post-divorce.

Speakers passionately urged Hindu community leaders to spearhead awareness initiatives about the Act within their communities. The need for prompt marriage registrations and thorough record-keeping to ensure accurate documentation was also emphasized.
