A group of dedicated civil society activists from various districts of Sindh recently met with Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, the Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC). The purpose of this meeting was to present an important report from The Knowledge Forum (TKF), which sheds light on the significant impacts of large-scale natural resource extraction on Indigenous communities.
During the meeting, the participants emphasized the urgent need to safeguard the well-being and rights of these Indigenous communities. The Chairperson of the SHRC assured the delegation of full support, in line with the commission's mandate. Mr. Zulfiqar Shah, a member of the SHRC, was also present at the meeting.
This collaboration between civil society activists and the SHRC highlights the shared commitment to upholding human rights, protecting the rights of Indigenous communities, and promoting social justice.
