Chairperson (SHRC) participated in a Consultative Sessions on the Preparation of the 6th Periodic Report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)

Chairperson, Sindh Human Rights Commission, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, along with Barrister Rida Tahir Law Consultant at SHRC participated in the Consultative Sessions on the Preparation of the 6th Periodic Report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) organized by Ministry of Human Rights collaboration with UN Women Pakistan.

Barrister Rida Tahir led the group of Women Development Department, Treaty Implementation Cell, Federal Ombudsman for Protection against Harassment and SHRC for the latest data on sexual and gender based violence and presented it to the participants.

The Ministry of Human Rights Government of Pakistan is in the process of preparing the 6th Periodic Report on CEDAW in collaboration with Federal and Provincial Departments.

The Consultative Sessions aim to discuss and finalize the 6th Periodic Report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) that will be shared with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2023. These sessions also include discussions on establishing a National Mechanism for Reporting on the Implementation of International Human Rights Conventions.
