The Sindh Human Rights Commission organized a two-day training session on Oct 16 and 17, 2023, at the Sindh Judicial Academy. This session provided crucial insights into various human rights subjects, benefitting 45 newly appointed civil judges and judicial magistrates.

Under the leadership of Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho Chairperson of SHRC, along with Barrister Rida Tahir, Law Consultant at SHRC, and Mr. Muhammad Shahid Shafiq, District & Sessions Judge/Senior Faculty Member at Sindh Judicial Academy, this initiative aimed to equip Civil Judges and Judicial Magistrates with in-depth knowledge of critical human rights laws and rules.

The training was designed to enhance their legal acumen and ensure fair and consistent legal decisions. Today key topics included the Sindh Prohibition of Employment of Children Act, 2017, and its Rules 2019, the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Amendment) 2023, and its Rules, and the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2018, and its Rules 2020.

We were truly honored to have Mr. Muhammad Omer Soomro, Minister for Law, Religious Affairs, and the Human Rights Department, as the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony. In his impactful address, Minister Soomro emphasized the challenging journey that lies ahead for these judges, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their careers. He encouraged them to recognize the significance of their roles, the power and responsibility they hold, and the vital importance of upholding justice. The minister stressed that their commitment to their duties and dedication to the justice system will profoundly shape the future.

Mr. Fazal Hussain Avesi, Additional Secretary, Human Rights Department, and Member of Sindh Human Rights Commission, also attended the closing session.

At the end of the training session, the Chief Guest distributed certificates to the participants, and distinguished speakers were presented with Shields as tokens of acknowledgment.
