M. Aslam Shaikh, Member Judicial-II of the Sindh Human Rights Commission participated in the introductory meeting of the Provincial Voter Education Committee (PVEC) in Sindh.
The meeting was presided over by the worthy Provincial Election Commissioner (Sindh). Following that, an opportunity was provided for stakeholders to share their suggestions aimed at ensuring fair and transparent elections and overcoming all challenges and obstacles.
During the meeting, the issue raised by Judicial Member-II (SHRC) regarding transgender individuals not receiving their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) from NADRA is a significant concern. The suggestion to hold a special meeting with the head of NADRA to resolve this issue demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing the problem.
Additionally, it was shared that mobile special teams of NADRA will visit remote areas of Sindh to issue CNICs on the spot is a practical step to ensure that all citizens, including those in hard-to-reach areas, have the opportunity to participate in upcoming elections. This initiative can help promote inclusivity and democratic representation.
