Aurat Foundation organized a consultation titled “Building Bridges for Women in Peace” in collaboration with Search for Common Ground.
The organization is implementing 'SHE-The Peace Builder,' a project designed to empower 50 Women Peace Architects (WPAs). This initiative aims to boost their skills and involvement in peace-building activities while fostering partnerships with governmental and civil society stakeholders.
Ms. Fareeda Tahir, PRO of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, participated in Aurat Foundation's consultation. She highlighted the absence of female representation in District Peace Committees and the underrepresentation of minority groups, she stressed the need for inclusivity. Her emphasis on involving youth and spreading awareness in universities was impactful. She also informed the District Peace Committees predominantly focus on Muslim festivals, neglecting broader peace and security issues, especially affecting vulnerable communities.
