Sindh Human Rights Commission in collaboration with its partner Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability called a dialogue on ‘Efficacy of National Human Rights Institutions in Pakistan’ at Roomy Signature Hotel, Islamabad on 29th December, 2023. The meeting was attended by the representatives of National Commission on the Rights of Child - NCRC Pakistan, National Commission on the Status of Women, Islamabad, Chairperson, Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW), Director General Law and Justice Authority, Director General Ministry of Human Rights, Ex-Senator Mr. Farhatullah Babar and leading civil society representatives including Zafarullah Khan, Chanudhary Shafique, Dr. Atta Mustafa and Qindeel Shujaat.
It was unanimously determined in the dialogue that all the National Human Rights Institution shall function as per ‘The Paris Principles 1993’ and the Civil Society urged the Government to grant administrative and financial autonomy to NHRIs so that they be able to dispose their key function of Human Rights protection impartially.
