Chairperson (SHRC) meeting with DC Dadu, line departments, and NGOs regarding post-flood rehabilitation work

Meeting at DC office with DC Dadu, line departments, and NGOs regarding post-flood rehabilitation work and the progress of the Flood Committee

In response to the 2022 floods in Sindh, the SHRC dedicated its efforts to District Dadu and Khairpur. A thorough assessment of ongoing relief efforts led to effective rehabilitation strategies. In a crucial meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mr. Fayaz Rahoojo, alongside representatives from various line departments and NGOs working in flood rehabilitation, Sindh Human Rights Commission, Chairperson Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures.

Following up on the working of the Special Committee for flood, formed upon the SHRC's directions on November 25, 2022, the Committee acknowledges the looming threat of climate change. It advocates for the development of an emergency response plan, aiming to define clear roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms among government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and community groups.

The focus extends to Chairman Detho's emphasis on school enrollment, infrastructure development before and after floods, and healthcare facilities in the district. Together, we work towards ensuring the safety of human lives, livelihoods, and agriculture in the face of potential disasters.
