Marvi Rural Development Organization (MRDO), in collaboration with Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) has taken a significant stride towards enhancing women's social, electoral, and political participation in District Sukkur. Through our ongoing project theme, "Enhancing Women’s Social, Electoral, and Political Participation," MRDO recently hosted a Provincial Convention at Mehran Hotel, Karachi on 15-04-2024. This event spotlighted the indispensable role of women in the social, economic, and electoral spheres, emphasizing their crucial contribution to society.
Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of Sindh Human Rights Commission, grace the occasion as the guest of honor. His poignant address underscored the urgent need for the inclusion of women in the electoral system without any discrimination. Mr. Detho, also shared insights into SHRC's latest initiative, the "HeForShe" campaign, aimed at promoting gender equality in various universities. The convention delved into the shared history of women's struggles, tracing back to movements against slavery and for equal rights.
Ms. Sughra Solangi CEO, MRDO presented a Charter of Demand for women's representation, advocating for equal rights and opportunities in alignment with international standards such as UDHR Article 16. Distinguished speakers recognized MRDO's efforts in working for marginalized communities. Together, let's continue championing the cause of gender equality and empowerment.
