A public hearing held by the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has suggested regularization of district peace and interfaith harmony committees to ensure sustainable peace in Shikarpur.
Presided over the SHRC Chairman Iqbal Ahmed Detho, the hearing was held in the deputy commissioner’s office and aimed at addressing impacts of tribal and sectarian conflicts on women and vulnerable communities.
Significant suggestions given by people included organizing orientation peace sessions at the taluka level, conducting research on tribal conflicts at the university level and strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms among law-enforcement agencies.
