The Core Committee, formed by the Local Government Department, convened under the leadership of Syed Khalid Hyder Shah, Additional Chief Secretary of the Local Government & Housing Town Planning Department, Ms. Kanwal Bhutto Additional Secretary, Local Government of Sindh, to review and finalize by-laws concerning birth, marriage, divorce, and death. The session was co-chaired by Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission. Notable participants included representatives from the Local Government Department, NADRA, Health & Population Welfare Department, Sindh, Law Department, and representatives of National Commission on the Rights of Child - NCRC Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, UNFPA Pakistan, and the World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan.
The meeting's key points of discussion included the following:
1. Discussion on the inception plan shared by NADRA.
2. Review of the tri-lateral CRVS agreement shared by NADRA (Local Government Department, Health Department, and NADRA).
3. Deliberation on including adoption in CRVS registration/by-laws.
This collaborative effort aimed to enhance the effectiveness and inclusivity of the CRVS system in Sindh, ensuring better alignment with both national and international standards.
