Seminar on Human Rights Issues in District Kashmore-Kandhkot
Organized by the Sindh Human Rights Commission.
Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, chaired a seminar focusing on human rights issues prevalent in District Kashmore-Kandhkot. The event was attended by Judicial Member Mr. Mir Safdar Talpur and Assistant Commissioner Mr. Ali Raza Shah of Kandhkot. The seminar brought together more than 61 participants from diverse backgrounds, including men, women, and members of minority communities from civil society, all of whom actively contributed to the discussion.
Participants raised concerns about access to justice, minority rights, poor health and education services, gender discrimination, and exploitation of marginalized groups. They also highlighted administrative inefficiencies and lack of accountability.
Mr. Detho acknowledged these concerns, offered recommendations, and assured that SHRC would raise the issues with higher authorities. He reaffirmed SHRC’s commitment to advocate for reforms and maintain active monitoring across Sindh.
Judicial Member Mr. Talpur also assured the attendees that he would continue his district-level visits to assess the ground realities firsthand and help facilitate timely interventions where required.
This seminar served as an important platform for community members to voice their concerns and expectations, and reinforced SHRC’s role as a responsive and people-centric institution.
