The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) organized a one-day training on capacity building of police officials in human rights education at the SSP Office, Sukkur.
Chairperson SHRC, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, highlighted the police's role in protecting the rights of marginalized groups and stressed the need for remand homes, women and children police stations, and senior citizen shelters in Sukkur.
Mr. Syed Kumail Hyder Shah, Chairman District Council Sukkur, attended as Chief Guest and assured support for establishing required facilities, while appreciating SHRC’s contributions.
Barrister Aashir Masood Mahar conducted sessions on juvenile justice, domestic violence, child marriage, trafficking, and sexual offences, stressing the importance of legal awareness among police.
Ms. Shahla Qureshi, AIGP Gender and Human Rights, emphasized integrating gender protections, ensuring coordination with anti-GBV services, and enhancing survivor access to support.
SSP Sukkur, Mr. Azhar Mughal, encouraged participants to uphold legal protocols and commended SHRC for organizing such trainings.
The session concluded with certificate distribution among participants.
